Commercialisation: delivering tools, germplasm and cultivars to industry
The Molecular Plant Breeding CRC (an unincorporated body) has established a corporate structure to facilitate the commercial adoption of technologies and inventions developed by its participants.
All intellectual property (IP) the CRC decides to protect (via patents and other methods) is owned by the company 'Molecular Plant Breeding Nominees Ltd', which holds it in trust for the participants.
An operating company, 'Molecular Plant Breeding Pty Ltd', acts as agent for the CRC to facilitate commercialisation of Centre IP via licence agreements and other contractual arrangements.
The corporate structure is designed to help the Molecular Plant Breeding CRC to achieve its mission and objectives.
Objectives
Protect and manage MPBCRC IP in line with strategic objectives
Effectively commercialise MPBCRC products, technologies and services
Negotiate commercial arrangements to facilitate industry adoption of new technologies
Establish commercial deals resulting in the delivery of MPBCRC germplasm and varieties to industry
Assess the viability of a service facility/capability for genetic transformation and genotyping to support molecular breeding programs; implement if viable
Outcome
Effective implementation and dissemination of MPBCRC technologies and products in the market place for the benefit of the Australian cereal and pasture industries.
